Topic Summary
Posted by aqt on Jan 25, 2009, 4:34pm
Crystals can be grown at home using a solution of sodium chloride, ammonia, water, and laundry bluing. The
crystals can be grown on a paper tree, made from white or green colored blotter paper (see Figure 1), or as a crystal
garden “grown” on a charcoal briquette, a piece of lava rock (used in a gas barbecue), or a piece of coal. To give
the crystals some color, drops of food colors can be placed on the growing material, in advance, and allowed to dry
before use.

We developed two novel methods for growing large, high-quality protein crystals. A two-liquid system enables the convenient extraction of protein crystals without causing mechanical damage due to growth at the interface between two liquids. Since this system does not require limitations on solution volume, it is also suitable for the seed technique, and for growing large crystals. Another new concept is the mild stirring of the solution using the Floating And Stirring Technique (FAST) and the Micro-stirring technique. When compared to conventional techniques, both techniques result in a reduced number of crystals, as well as the growth of large crystals.

Yes bannannas, these photos are great and you have uncovered somrthing that will hopefully bring some bigger "guns" to help.

I too have noted the buldge where the c-axis ends. In one of your photos there is a distinct light reflection off a termination prism which conflicts with the ability to "buldge". Do you agree that the bulges look dome shapped? It's also not the termination expected from a triclinic crystal! All very confusing but extremly interesting/important. I haven't seen anything emerge from a crystal; I feel this is an important observation: indicating the crystal is not inorganic! The change in color is kown as pleochrosism. The crystal may be a different color depending on the direction it is viewed from or the frequency of light it is observed with.

Bannanns, was it you who displayed the crystal with a hindged movement? How about the crystal with Opal like play of colors on side crystal prisms? Maybe I'm remembering the same crystal. What I'm seeing is evidence of a specific light interferrence phenonum characteristic of silicon dioxide molocules arranged in a cryptocrystalline side-by-side matrix. All this is contrary to formation of a very perfect hexagonal inorganic crystallization.

I read in links provided by aqt that scientists are growing hollow Quartz (silicon dioxide) crystals to be embeded with biosensors.

We may be amatures but I'll bet a few people a hell of a lot brighter than us are surprised at our findings. Possibly things we weren't expected to find.

Thanks aqt... you guys always made me feel welcome on your board!

Why in the world would anyone want to make these things? Course, I guess I'm relating that to morgellons only.

I'm glad you like the pix pocoloco... I think they're pretty interesting too. I about flipped when I first looked at the thing... then when I started seeing the changes take place I about keeled over completely! It's pretty scary to me. I was seeing Dr. Hildy at the time and immediately sent the pix to her. Then I brought it down to her (she's 75 miles from me) and like I said, she still has it. I'd told her I wanted a guarantee that it would be returned before sending it off anywhere. I don't want something like that which came out of my own body to get lost out there in the system somewhere ya know? But she finally may have found a lab to send it to... Quantum Tech Solutions. Ever heard of them? She said they should have the funding soon, so I'm still waiting.

She did ask me if I'd had any surgeries within the past 10 years. I did... I had an ectopic pregnancy (my 2nd), complete shoulder surgery with 4 steel anchors implanted, and spinal surgery. Altho it was just a thought of hers, she said it could've been implanted at any time during any one of my surgeries. Did you guys know doctors can implant "chips" in people without even needing their consent or even being told it was done? Talk about crimes... there's another one they get away with.

I don't know much of anything about these crystals tho pocoloco. I guess the buldge could be seen as dome shaped. But I have no idea what you mean about termination or being triclinic, or what would indicate the crystal not being inorganic. As far as the color changes... the lighting was the same every time I took a pic of it. I know each time I'd place it back under the scope after flipping it over that I didn't put it down exactly the same way as before, but that's all I can think of. But for the cross wires or whatever they are in the first pics to suddenly disappear all together, then the color changes, the buldge and then when something began to emerge from within the buldge, were all very strange happenings to me... including the fact that it returned to a "flat" stage again after that.

Anyhoo, if there's anything you need me to understand that might in turn help you, you'll need to explain it to me in laymens terms pocoloco, k? I'm totally absent minded as it is, so I'm far from being science minded... it just won't go there. Altho I will say it goes everywhere else outside of this realm! Talk about gettin scared at times... oooh it's been downright spooky since I've had morgellons.

Bannanny: What a frightful ordeal you have been thru! God bless you.

When a medical practicioneer removes something like that by surgery, it should be sent to a medical pathologist. Was this done and what was in the pathologists report? That Dr. H. S. can't or won't take the next step is incomprendable. I would recover the artifact as there will be people to show it to who won't put it on a shelf. Contact the people at OUT THERE; give them your story and I'd bet the ranch (if I had one) that they will run with it. This is just their kind of story. Simply e-mail this thread to them. Next, you might call your local MUFFON agent. I promise you they will pick up the ball and run with it. I'll be sending this thread to a MUFFON agent that I know personally.

Explaination of terms: Crystals that have one direction of growth that is longer than other directions of growth are said to have a "C-axis" in that plane. Looking down on a hexagonal form from above the c-axis would appear as a dot in the center of the hexagon. Now if you were to imagine lines from the center of the sides of the hexagon passing thru the c-axis on the way to the opposite side, all three lines would be of equal length. So...a hexagonal crystal has 4 axis; three of equal length and one that is longer than the other three.

When a crystal stops growing (Along the c-axis) the end of inorganic crystals typically form a pyramid of some sort with flat prism faces. There are slight exceptions but I believe the dome like expanding, "giving birth" to something part may be known to others but it's way over my head!

Oh I haven't experienced any more of a frightening ordeal than the rest of you have pocoloco! I've had so many frightening experiences in my lifetime, not much else gets to me really.

I think you must've misread what I said tho about the chip and surgeries. A doctor didn't remove the chip from me... I removed it myself from my right arm. Dr. Hildy was just wondering if it could've been put in me during a surgery... that's why she asked me if I'd had any in the past 10 years.

I did contact her about 2 months ago asking her if she'd gotten anywhere with it yet. I told her if she hadn't that I'd like her to go ahead and send it back to me. That's when she told me about Quantum Tech Solutions and that they should have the funding soon to identify and analyze it. So I told her I'd wait a little longer and she could hold onto it. But if something doesn't happen soon, I'm definitely gonna have her send it back to me. She's had it forever.

I must've written 50 emails to begin with tho (which included the pix of course) to different researchers and institutes asking if they were interested in looking at it. I never got one response... I write letters about everything that's morgellons related and never get responses. I even sent tons of info to a guy named Scott Sternberg who's planning on doing a documentary about morgs who never replied. Sometimes I feel like my emails get re-routed or somethin cuz I send some good info out there I think. If I were a researcher, I'd jump on this kind of thing ya know? Nothing ever makes any sense to me anymore.

I'll tell ya what pocoloco... you can go ahead and contact "Out There" (whatever that is... I can figure it out for the most part tho) and send them this thread if you want to. I also don't know what a MUFFON agent is, but you're welcome to contact them as well. As long as I know where my chip is, I don't care who the pix are sent to. I just don't wanna lose it, that's all I'm certain of.

silicon based photonic crystal biosensors
Posted by aqt on Feb 5, 2009, 9:55am
http://www.rso.cornell.edu/scitech/archive/01fal/cornell01.html

The research team developed a method to create periodic nano-structures called "nanobumps" on silicon wafers. Currently, nano-structures are made by a process called lithography in which visible light plays an important role. Because of the relatively long wavelength of light, the size of the structures that lithography can produce is limited. The smallest lateral feature produced by lithography available today is about 150 nm, but Cornell's research team currently nanobumps with spacings less than 38 nm - far beyond the ability of lithography.

These nanobumps are created by selective etching of twist bonded bicrystals. A thin wafer of silicon is placed on a thicker wafer of the same size as in Figure 1.

The thinner one is then twisted slightly to create a Moire pattern. Because of the crystalline structure of silicon, each atom is aligned and evenly spaced from the others. In Fig. 2 each dot represents a silicon atom and the pattern formed by the dots corresponds to that of the silicon atoms. It can be seen that after the twisted overlaying, silicon atoms are periodically strained away from their positions in a perfect crystal. Also, as the twist angle increases, the spacing between strained areas decreases.

chaosonline says that her crystal hexagon was "hinged"

Silicon photonic nanostructures are of widespread interest for applications in integrated photonics. In particular, photonic crystal (PhC) resonators confine light to ultra small volumes and exhibit cavity modes with high optical finesse. We take advantage of these properties to investigate label-free bio-sensor applications based on the linear optical response of the system.

You know aqt, I don't know much about the crystal but I can tell you from your post above that I do see the rainbow color in a lot of this morgellons. Not sure if it has anything to do with it but it sure seems like it to me. What else would have that rainbow color? Does gasoline have the same kind of rainbow when mixed with h2o? I know it's a silly question but for some reason I feel it has something in common ,not sure.??

I don't know the answer to your question bianca, but I can tell you I see what look just like gas fumes do in the air coming off of me and things in my house. I think what look like fumes tho are actually millions of morg particles being dispersed into the air like spores. JMO tho...

The above artifact was found recently near Phoenix, Arizona.

Bannannas: Was your "crystal" specimen ever returned to you? Remembering your reply #28 on Jan' 25 where you suggested something might be growing out of your crystal, would you say it looked similar to the above crystal during the transition shown.

perhaps the stem cells are sent a signal to self-assemble these protiens into protein crystals based on the proteins that are available. self-assembling protein biosensors?

Perhaps the fibers are protein in nature as well???

amyloid fibers=proteins

Proteins
Proteins consist of long macromolecule chains made up from 20 different amino acids. The chains can be several hundred residues long and fold into a 3-dimensional structure. It is therefore quite understandable that protein molecules have irregular shapes and are not ideally suited to be stacked into a periodic lattice, i.e., a crystal. Protein crystals are thus very fragile, soft (think of a cube of jelly instead of a brick) and sensitive to all kind of environmental variations. Protein crystals contain on average 50% solvent, mostly in large channels between the stacked molecules on the crystal. The interactions holding the molecules together are usually weak, hydrogen binds, salt bridges, and hydrophobic interactions, compared to strong covalent or ionic interactions in mineral crystals. This explains the fragility of the crystals, but allows for the possibility of soaking metal solutions (important for phasing) or even large enzyme substrates or inhibitors, into the crystals.

Got fleas? RAID makes a flea trap which consists of a green lamp attractor and a 4"x6" sticky pad replaceable trap. It was on these trap pads that I found purple hexagonal crystals beside the desicated remains of fleas. Unfortunately or maybe you would say fortunately, I haven't seen a flea since. So...I'm asking for your help. If you have fleas and can spare a pad or two, I would appreciate an opportunity to examine it under the microscope. I will e-mail you a photomicrograph of the results.
